# Privacy Policy: Document Player (Doc Player) Last updated: September 8, 2026 We respect your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. ## Information We Collect ### Account information When you sign in, we collect the information needed to create and manage your account. We keep accounts in Firebase Authentication. If you sign up with email and password, we store your email address. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from that service, plus your profile picture if you chose to share one. If you continue as a guest, we create a temporary anonymous ID. You can later link that guest account to an email address, Apple account, or Google account. ### Files and use data We collect the files you upload and the links you send for upload. We also collect the prompts you enter, the audio you create, and your listening history. When you use the Ask button, we do not store your talk with the AI. Google or OpenAI processes your speech. We only store the amount used for billing. ### Payment information Apple and Google handle in-app payments. We do not see or store your full card number. We store your plan status, credit balance, and the store through which you paid. ### App use information We collect basic information about how you use the app, such as the tools you use, time spent, and device type. ## How We Use Your Information We use your information to: - Provide and improve Document Player (Doc Player). - Process your documents and create audio. - Manage your account, plan, and credit balance. - Track app use, find faults, and fix them. - Send you news about the app, help, and changes to this policy. ## How We Share Your Information We do not sell your personal data. Google or OpenAI may process data when you create audio or use AI tools. We may also share the least data needed with firms that help us run payments, app use reports, and hosting. We may share information when the law requires it or when we need to guard our legal rights. If you choose to share a document in public, other people can view it. ## Chrome extension Doc Player uses user data in line with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. The extension has its own sign-in session through Google Firebase. Firebase saves that session in the extension on your device, so you can stay signed in after closing Chrome. The extension sends your account token directly to the Doc Player server to check your account and credit balance. It does not save your password. Signing out of the extension does not sign you out of the website. Google and Apple sign-in use a page on documentplayer.com only while you sign in. That page keeps the sign-in result in memory for the current attempt, then passes it to the extension. The extension does not need a Doc Player website tab for later account or speech requests. When you select text and send it to the extension, it reads the selected text and the page title and link. When you choose "Select section" in the sidebar, the extension reads text already loaded on the page to help you choose a section. The extension keeps the following in your local history on the device, in your browser: - The text you choose. - The page title and link. - The active sentence. - Saved audio for replay. Google or OpenAI receives the text needed to read it aloud or repair it. Ask and Explain use AI speech. Without microphone access, the extension cannot hear you or send microphone audio. With the Ask and Explain buttons, you can start a live conversation with an AI at Google or OpenAI. If you grant microphone access in your browser and speak with the AI, the extension sends your microphone audio to Google or OpenAI. It also sends the active sentence and nearby text to help the AI answer. We do not store your microphone input or your conversation with the AI. The extension sends them only to Google or OpenAI. We keep input and output token counts for billing. These counts measure how much text and audio the AI processes. We do not store your voice chats. You can delete one item or clear History in the extension. This also removes its saved audio from your device. Copies you added to your app library stay there until you delete them in the app. ## Data Storage and Safety We take steps to guard your data from access, loss, or misuse. No online service can promise full safety. ## Your Choices You can ask for a copy or deletion of your data. You can also delete your account in the app. To make a request, email jan@documentplayer.com. ## Children's Privacy Document Player (Doc Player) is not for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. ## Changes to This Policy We may update this policy. We will tell you in the app or by email before a key change takes effect. ## Contact If you have questions, email jan@documentplayer.com.
